Road Safety and Disability National Congress
On 3 and 4 November there has been celebrated the II Road Safety and Disability National Congress organised by the Ministry of Health, Social Welfare and Equality and ASPAYM.
The City Council of Granada has been invited to join through a Round Table about: Best measures in Urban Road Safety moderated by the Major Chief of Local Police in Granada, joined as speaker the Director of the Education in Road Safety Centre.
There has been reflected several measures that City Council consider, that has a Local Council of disability people, where there is an special committee of Accessibility.
Some technical measures are: Adaptation of urban furniture, lowered sidewalks, adaptation of traffic lights, access ramps in public transport, mobile apps...
Surveillance and Police Control to guarantee the fulfillment of measures that guarantee integration and respect among all.
Educational and Awareness measures, aimed to every educational centre in the city where integration is a reality and in parallel to specific centers for specific disabilities: physical (hearing, motor, visual), menthal and psychological .
Objective: Integration , autonomy and security among every kind of person and means of transport. Healthier and substainables displacements are encouraged: pedestrian, cyclist and public transport.
Methodology: Theorical-practical courses, Drawing contest as a way to know what children and young people desire for the city they want to live in, Traffic Regulators, Bicycle meetings, Motorbikes meetings, Campaigns, creation of resources . Everything will be focused to make Granada a safer and caring city with people and environment.
