The City Council runs a road safety campaign for the elderly. The Major, Francisco Cuenca, visits the informative stands in Plaza del Carmen due to the International Day for the Elderly.
In the International Day for the Elderly, celebrated on 1st October, the City Council of Granaad has launched an awareness campaign of road safety for the elderly. So, the Mobility Area has organised an extensive programme of activities aimed to favour the safe inclusion on citizen mobility of people over sixty years old.
During this celebration, the city council of Granada, Francisco Cuenca, has visited the informative stands in Plaza del Carmen accompanied by Red Cross representatives, College of Psychologists of Granada, the State Traffic Office and National Police, all these collectives are involved in the awareness campaign, training and prevention from accidents in the elderly people collective.
Our goal, said Cuenca, is to envolve elderly people not only to be aware on their displacements in the cities, but to be prescribers of many young people to advance their advice and wisdom to improve quality of life in this city..
So, the major has emphasized that now there are many active elderly persons that goes through the city walking or use public transport. And in many cases they do it when taking children to school or any other activity. So, their commitment in road safety is crucial to make this city safer and friendly for everyone, has concluded.
