A free app allows to pay parking using mobile devices
This system already works in other cities as Madrid, Córdoba, Santiago, Santander or Marbella.
Users of time-limited park zones ORA have a new system of payment with mobile called e-parking; a free app available for mobile devices and smartphones, which allows to pay with no need to find a parking meter to get the ticket, have coins or get to your car to extend your parking time.
Citizen´s protection and Mobility city council Mrs Telesfora Ruiz, has emphasized that to use this new system, user has to download this free app e-park on their smartphones and sign up as new member,pointing out that every user could have several number plates associated to it and so, several vehicles.
To see how it works, Ruiz has explained that it has a prepaid system, like a cash card, so the amount of the ticket is discounted of the balance of the user. . Minimum charge is 5 euros, when the balance is under 5 euros, the system warns, displaying the balance in red; also the balance is always shown in the park paying process.
Once is done, the ORA controllers have the information referred to the purchase of that parking time on their portable devices (PDA),so they could check, inserting the number plate of the car, that had payed using this e- ticket (because it won´t have any physical ticket on the windscreen)
The app offers the possibility to check the fares and timetables of the parking zones, and the status of the purchase as well.At the same time, activating the alarm, it could warn you when the time of purchase is going to end in 10 minutes, and awolls to increase the parking time if neccessary, to the limit of parking time.
As Ruiz says, in the app is registered a record with the different purchases made, and the proof of payment in a digital support. If the user has exceeded the time purchased and the controller has fined it, it also could be cancelled using this app.
The concessionaire company of this service, SETEX, has settled this app in other cities in which hold the concession of the ORA, like Córdoba, Madrid, Santander, Santiago de Compostela and Marbella, and pretends to continue with the rest of the cities that manage this service. This way, the user signed up in Granada could use this app in other city with this system.
