World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims in Granada 2016

Concentration took place on 20th November 2016 at Fuente de las Batallas.

 

One more year, due to the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, last Sunday 20 November has taken place a tribute concentration for road traffic victims and their families at Fuente de las Batallas where have met a large group of citizens, relatives, members of the NGO stop accidentes and dignataries of the city council of Granada.

To this act, organised by STOP ACCIDENTES, attended, togheter with representatives of the City Council of Granada, both politicians and technicians, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters, Motorbike association Vespacito, etc. Very commited to this organisation.

Each year, in the world, traffic accidents cause one million people casualties and injuries or incapacities in other 50 millions. In young population is the first cause of death at present...but, among us, we can reduce it.



During the event there was a time to remember, recognition and conciousness raising.

In this act, with a very emotionally charged by relatives and friends, claims the importance that both Administrations, Companies, Associations, Families, and Educational Community... continue invest resources and personal work to get more PREVENTION each day of this big problem affecting human beings with different measures: both technical, educational and vigilance and control and a society with coherent models for the commitment to ROAD SAFETY.

The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims was celebrated for the first time in 1993 in the United Kingdom.

From this date, a great number of countries has joined this celebration because it is a pandemic around the world. On 26th October 2005 th UN took a Resolution that calls country governments to set the third sunday of November each year as the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
