Granada will have in the following months more than 20 taxis suitable for disabled people
On Friday 17 March were presented four brand new taxis suitable for disabled people.
The city of Granada will have in the following months more than twenty taxis suitable for disabled people, known as eurotaxis, as the Mayor of the city, Francisco Cuenca, and the president of Asociación Gremial del Taxi, Juan Túnez, at the presentation of these brand new four vehicles.
After informing that european, national and autonomous normatives stablish that a city like Granada must have 28 taxis suitable for disabled people, Cuenca has pointed out that when he became Mayor there were only 6 taxi licenses for disabled people. For that reason we have made a political decision consisting of adapting current licenses to those one for vehicles suitables for disabled people and with more capacity, as eurotaxis are, has explained.
For that matter, the Mayor has remarked that this new four eurotaxis available from now in Granada, are the first to embrace this municipal initiative. We have about 20 applications that in the following weeks would adapt their license and so we will have a number of eurotaxis closer to normative, has said.
So, Cuenca has specially appreciated the fact that, from now on, disabled people will have a basic public service of taxis as everyone else and has pointed out that this kind of adapted vehicles can be useful for large families, small groups of people or even for touristic sevices.
