The City Council of Granada has launched a package of measures aimed at improving road safety and mobility in the North district with the implementation of new signage and traffic lights at twenty points and in the surroundings of schools and the establishment of the lane for the exclusive use of public transport in the main arteries of the neighbourhood.
This was announced this morning, March 1, 2022, by the Councilor for Mobility and Citizen Protection at the Granada City Council, Raquel Ruz, who, accompanied by the mayor of Maintenance, Environment and Education, Jacobo Calvo, announced , on a visit to the neighborhood, that the municipal government, in its priority of listening to the neighbors and being on their side, has undertaken more than twenty actions, requested at the municipal board of district, among which the implementation in the North district of the so-called safe educational centers stands out.
Specifically, the mayor has announced the improvement of accessibility and road safety in six schools in the district, including the IES Cartuja Secondary Education Institute, located on Julio Moreno Dávila street, where new traffic lights with push buttons and donkey backs have been put on to avoid speeding that were detected on this road; at the San José de Cartuja Infant and Primary Education Center, located on Francisco de Paula Valladar Serrano street, with the implementation of school environment signage, as well as at the CEIP Amor de Dios, on Fray Juan Sánchez Cotán street, < em>in which, in response to the demand of parents of that school, canopies have been installed.
In Henríquez de Jorquera street, where the Cartuja Childrens Center is located, work has been carried out on several sections with the installation of a donkeys back and new signage and the reinforcement of the existing signage, while in the surroundings of the At the María de Zambrano school, security has been improved in the vicinity of the educational facility and at the CEIP Arrayanes, located on Rey Ben Zirí street with Joaquina Eguaras, railings and access protection forks have been installed to prevent entry of two-wheelers.
