The City Council of Granada move forward in the execution of Municipal Renovation Works Plan 2024-2027, that only whithin six months has been implemented a 20 per cent, with the beginning of the renovation project of the central and shopping street San Antón that, with an investment of more than 2.515.767,12 euros and an implementation period of seven months, will be an unique platform, preferably pedestrian street, but will be allowed to circulate to garages, residents and emergency vehicles.
The Mayoress of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, has presented this morning the project approved by Urbanism Area, after several meetings with neighbours and traders of that zone, thanks to it this government team meet the continous requests of improvement and renovation works in one of the streets of the trade heart of the city, has said.
As she has explained, San Antón St, was so far one way street and sidewalks on both sides with variable width (between 1,00 and 3,70 meters), will be an unique platform pavimented with granite tiles 8 cm thick of different colours with a decorative geometric design, that will be limited on the border the spaces aimed for pedestrians and Street furniture: flowerpots, a sum of 73 along the street, and benches, and also streetlamps with flowerpots.
In particular, she has referred the type of plants and flowers that will be planted (punica granatum, acer palamtum and polygala myrtifolia) and native plants. These pots will have will have an indirect lightning system and watering system.
The street will have 27 new light points, composed of cast-iron column classic type with a decorative grenade and led lights.
This project, in own words of Marifrán Carazo, is faithful to the philosophy of Municipal Renovation Works Plan that, not only favour quality of life with more spacious places to walk around, more mass of trees and better lightning, but the modernization of supply infrastructure, improving water efficiency and reducing light pollution, objectives that help us strengthen a more sustainable urban model, has assured.
The action area involves crossroad of San Antón St and Recogidas St to Alhamar St, although the execution of works will be carried out in two rams simultaneity: first one, between the beginning of street in Recogidas St until Nueva de San Antón St, with an investment of 1.311.311,13 euros it have been tendered to Obras y Servicios Públicos S.A., and the second one, from Nueva de San Antón St to Alhamar St , will be carried out by Albaida Infraestructuras S.A. after a bid of 1.204.455,99 euros.
This works, included in the Municipal Renovation Work Plan 2024-2027 of Ayuntamiento de Granada, is also included in the Hydric Resilience in the Water Circle of Emasagra, that will involves, on one side, the renovation of supply and sewage network, in advanced state of deterioration, and on the other side, the renovation of concrete paving and improvement of urbanization.
Regarding to the renovation of supply network existing, currently is composed by fibre cement pipes and grey cast iron, that will be changed by ductil cast iron 300 mm diameter in a total length of 511 meters.
In sewage network, there will be installed new water collector of PVC pipes of 400 and 500 milimetres and a lenght of 215 and 256 meters respectively. To complete the improvement of sewage network will be carried out the installation of 24 new drainages for the collection of rainwater.
Also, will be renovated all water and sewage connections in the areas affected by works.
Finally, there will be installed groundwater conduits to put cables underground and future needs, and will be restored all services affected by works.
The máximum municipal chairperson has advanced that, beside the agreement of the Project with neighbours in several meetings with Urbanism area, gathering all contributions received, once contracts have been adjudicated these meeting have been intensified to clarify both for neighbours and traders different phases of execution of works for the affections to daily activity in this street.
So, as she said, there will be in touch continously with neighbours and traders of San Antón St while works are being carried out, giving information about the progress and incidences that may occur, in the same way as it has so far been operated, as in the rest of renovation works included in the Municipal Renovtion Work Plan and that this time is specially relevant due to the comercial nature of the street.
The action as a whole has been planned to be finished at the beginning of December, in gives way to Christmas festivities which implies a Hugh trade campaign.
The Municipal Renovation Plan 2024-2027 with a sum of 60 actions which mean an investment higher than 40 millon euros rising , as the majoress said in a visit of road works in Emperatriz Eugenia St, in six months the 20 per cent of total plan.
